Greetings from Westchester, The queen is back in her palace!! We had made the decision to come home after visiting with Northern Illinois Hopice. The move was made yesterday afternoon. She was brought home in an ambulance and moved into her bed. The move was rough and she encounted pain, but we are home. After getting home, Hospice people were here to greet us and make sure we were all comfortable. We got instructions for meds and spent the night on our own. The girls and I will be able to spend a couple of nights here. Tomorrow morning we are making Swedish pancakes and starting up the grill. I make it sound like such a easy going thing that Mom is home, but as we sat and waited for the ambulance we watched nurses come in and thank Mom for being such a wonderful patient. They said their good-byes and we took a deep breath and realized that this is just another step towards us saying good-bye...that was tough!! I would also like to share a thought with you that I had a couple days ago. The doctor had come in and was explaining where he thought Mom was in the process of taking her last breaths. Some of us were watching her breath and getting nervous that the time might be near and the physical, mental, and emotional strength that it would take to move her home would be too much for her. The doctor ensured us that even though she has cancer that is filling her body, she has a good heart. My first thought was "Well, yeah she does have a good heart, no an excellent heart. She cares for everyone." Love, Kurt and Jenn

Oh Jenny, you said it well! She has an excellent heart!! None of us will ever know the many visits, telephone calls, notes, food taken, quiet talks, listening ear....yes, listening ear(many of us talk and never listen), caring heart, loving spirit, gentle laugh! Don and she are the flies on the wall who have been there, seen the need, and taken care of it, without any fanfare, or glory! What a testimony! You are all in our thoughts and prayers throughout the day. We love you all....thanks for the updates.

I've went through this journey with my dad and I understand many of the things you are feeling. Knowing God is laughing when you are laughing and crying when you are crying will bring you peace during the times of uncertainty. Our family is praying for yours . . . Sincerely, Sarah Thode

  5. I am sad for selfish me and so very Happy that her time with the Lord is going to be more precious than anything that we can fathom here. I celebrate her love, her devoted family, her generosity, her compassion. I love you Deb.

Though she may be mostly silent now...her life SHOUTS OUT TO ALL OF US to be better people for Christ! Her testimony of Him will live within each of us forever and ever! Deb, Don, Jenn and, family one and all, may God continue to wrap you all as a family and individually with His blanket of HOPE, PEACE, COMFORT AND GREAT LOVE which is only found in Him!!
